Studio Bogardus
Pursuing excellence in musicianship
Youth Arts Program (YAP) provides a quality arts education for youth ages 4-18 in Grant County, OR by providing arts education and performance opportunities, increasing access to professional artist-mentors, and providing venues for displaying students’ artistic work. This will benefit local youth as they grow and learn through the program activities and artists who will achieve greater recognition. It will also benefit the community at large by increasing the visibility, accessibility, and quality of the arts, which in turn will elevate and lend cohesiveness and pride to the community. While activities will be planned to benefit primarily youth, adults may be invited to participate in some activities.
YAP, whose parent organization is the Juniper Arts Council, currently administers two programs:
1.  Our core after-school program includes three choirs for people of all ages, two guitar classes for ages 4-12, and a string ensemble for experienced string players.
2.  Our Summer at the YAP provides art, music, and drama education in a two-week day camp.
We depend on grants, local donations, and membership fees to fund our programs. You can choose to support YAP and the Juniper Arts Council by joining our programs, choosing us as your charity at Amazon Smile, or donating directly through paypal or at one of our functions. We appreciate your support!
*YAP is part of the Juniper Arts Council, and is not affiliated with Studio Bogardus; this page is simply hosted on the Studio's site for convenience.

Most of the spring choir pieces will be included in in these videos to practice with. Please note that not all versions are exactly the same as the ones we are using.

Audio Files for Show Choir

Each playlist below has rehearsal tracks for a different part (soprano, mezzo, or alto). Rehearsal tracks are divided up by measures and are usually slower than performance tempo. There will be two measures counted before the part plays. If you click on the cloud you will be taken to the player, where you can choose which track to use.

All Grant County students ages 7-18 are eligible to participate. If your 4, 5, or 6 year old is interested in joining us and you feel they are mature enough to do so, please contact the director so we can discuss your case individually.
Camp will be from 1-5PM each weekday, July 30th-August 10th at Dayville School. The final showcase and potluck will be at 5PM on the August 10th; parents and friends are invited.
The daily schedule will be determined by each camper's needs. Music-emphasis students will receive a private lesson at least twice each week (first-come, first-served for time slots). All campers participate in a performance showcase at the end of camp.
Summer at the YAP will be at Dayville School. Students are expected to provide their own transportation to and from camp, but we are happy to connect families for carpooling. The People Mover will run a route from John Day to camp and back each day for a fee; if you are interested in the People Mover please let us know on your application.
Cost per student is $120, with a family cap of $300.
***Early Bird Special!*** All those who register and send their checks before June 15th, 2018, receive a special discount - tuition will be reduced to $100 per student for early birds!
This cost does not represent the true cost of the camp; we keep our costs low through partnerships with local school districts, which provide our venue and some equipment and supplies, through the generosity of local artists who donate a portion of their time for free, and through grants and donations. We encourage all who are able to donate to the program. If donations exceed expenses, the excess will be used to hire new teachers and expand the program in the next year.
Without donations, our program will not be able to continue. Please consider donating - remember that similar camps cost about $500 per student.
If the camp fee of $120 per student is out of your family's reach, please fill out a scholarship application below.
